Designing the ELEVATE Early Talent Portfolio

The challenge

Air New Zealand wanted to strengthen its pipeline of future talent while ensuring early career programmes reflected the organisation’s purpose, culture and future capability needs.

The opportunity was to create a connected portfolio that would attract, develop and support emerging talent across multiple pathways.


The idea

We designed the ELEVATE Early Talent Portfolio, bringing together several development pathways into one clear and compelling framework.

This included the creation of the ELEVATE Summer Internship, Graduate Programme and Te Ara Whanake Digital Apprenticeship

Each programme was designed as a development journey - combining meaningful work, learning experiences and strong connection and belonging to Air New Zealand.


Our role

  • Human centred discovery work and design of the talent portfolio

  • Shaping the talent onboarding and development journeys across the programmes

  • Design of the ELEVATE brand with Air New Zealand’s inhouse design studio

  • Developing and facilitating the learning and engagement experiences

  • Working with stakeholders across Air NZ.

The outcome

A cohesive early talent ecosystem that supports the development of future capability and strengthens Air NZ’s long-term talent pipeline. 100% retention of graduates with a 89 NPS score across the first year of the programme.
